The need for adequate and reliable sources of traction power is paramount in assuring that the railroad’s present and future operating plan is consistently achieved under all normal and contingency operating conditions. With that in mind the MTA has enlisted the services Verde Electric (Design-Builder) to install a new prefabricated substation to replace the existing Pelham (C- 16). The replacement of this substation is critical in enhancing the DC traction supply system along the New Haven Line to ensure MNR continues to provide the reliable services that its patrons depend on.

As Design Builders, Verde Electric will provide comprehensive design drawings, specifications, testing/commissioning procedures, as well as associated project deliverables. Verde Electric shall construct all the infrastructure necessary for this substation facility. This includes site construction (foundations/cable vaults/grading/structures), steel grating/platforms, prefabricated substation building, all substation equipment, duct bank infrastructure and interconnecting cable for a completely delivered traction power substation.
